Helping Families Help Their Kids to Connect to the World.....4 Paws at a Time
Welcome to Paws for Autism. Our mission is to bring Autism Service Dogs and related services, including community outreach and education, service dog awareness, informational training and social skills classes, to children who demonstrate autism spectrum behaviors. Our vision is for all children on the autism spectrum and for those with spectrum behaviors to have access to specifically trained autism service and/or therapy dogs to assist with their peer interaction and improve social integration in their schools and communities.
We are a non-profit entity 501(c)(3) certified by the IRS.
The initial intent of our charity was to simply help other families raise the funds needed to secure an autism service dog for their child. However, we quickly grew past that and our dreams and programs continue to blossom!
Our current programs include Canine Assisted Social Skills In Education (CASSIE), Community Outreach and Education including many corporate presentations and inservices, and CHIP-In Grants for families.
Several programs that are on the horizon include.....
Social skills slubs, job training in anaimal care fields, service dog breeding/puppy raising, agility training and school reading programs. If it fits the trifecta, we work it into our programming!
How YOU can help a child in need:
It is difficult for individual families to secure donations and grants from large corporations or government entities because those corporations are limited to giving to recognized charities. Those same corporations truly DO wish to help but must protect the interests of their businesses as well. Paws for Autism is the bridge that connects the
needs of the children and families dealing with autism to those generous corporations and businesses who want to assist.
Paws 4 Autism is always in need of volunteers: from puppy raisers, to guardians of our dogs that are used in programs to helping with events or stepping up to participate on our Advisory Board or becoming a Sponsor or Partner. Know that over 97% of monies donated go directly to programs that work with autistic youth.
The children below were chosen by
committee to be
awarded grants for their autism
dogs. All either have their dogs now or
are in the
final stages of training.CONGRATS!!
