Apply for a PAWS Professional Therapy or Facility dog
Paws 4 Autism Therapy & Facility Dogs
Considering a therapy or facility assistance dog can be daunting. We want to help you through that process! We will help you decide whether it is a good choice for your needs, then help you choose an agency that best fits those needs. Sometimes Paws 4 Autism is the right fit....sometimes another agency. We have several specialists that we refer to when needed. Currently, our focus is on working in the Kansas City region. However, we will consider and consult on a case by case basis with clients within a four hour driving radius of Lees Summit 64082.
Cost for a therapy/facility dog starts at $5,000 and is based upon the amount of training/tasks that the pup needs/has received or for additional training as requested by you/your facility. Just like our service dogs, we ensure that the pup placed not only exceeds the minimum requirements of Therapy Dogs International and Assistance Dogs International, but also is the best fit for your unique facility needs.
Please note: we cannot train or certify your pet dog as a therapy dog. Due to liability issues, we can only place the dogs in our programs with approved applicants.
To qualify for a therapy dog, you must be a professional therapist, social worker, psychologist, psychiatrist, occupational therapist, social worker, or seeking a graduate degree in one of the above fields. Teachers and school counselors are welcome to apply as well if they have approval of school and district administration.
First step is our basic online application:
After we review your initial application, we will schedule a phone interview to go over your application and answer any questions you may have. If both parties agree to proceed, then your application is sent to our Board for preliminary approval and an in home meeting will be scheduled.
